What is a Microsoft tenant?

A Microsoft tenant is a dedicated instance or a cloud-based environment within Microsoft's cloud services ecosystem, such as Microsoft 365 or Azure. It acts as a container for an organization's resources.

A Microsoft tenant gives organizations and businesses a secure and isolated environment to centrally manage all cloud services, user accounts, and organizational settings.

When a company subscribes to Microsoft services, it is provisioned with a tenant that includes its unique domain, users, licenses, and settings.

When you get a Microsoft Tenant, you get a Microsoft Tenant ID. A Microsoft Tenant ID is a unique, globally identifiable number assigned to a specific Microsoft tenant.

You need this ID to identify and manage an organization’s cloud environment within Microsoft services, such as Microsoft 365 or Azure, or to do API integrations.
